Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Honoring All Voices, a partnership of churches in the LI
Presbytery, in conjunction with the Peace, Justice and Hunger Work Group, has
planned a series of yearly events since 2003 focused on bringing together
divergent views of faithful Presbyterians and placing them in historical and
scriptural context. We would like to invite your congregation to join us in
sponsoring our 2006 event on Saturday, October 21,
Jack Rogers is a distinguished evangelical teacher and scholar, a past moderator of the General Assembly, and the author of a number of books, including Confessions of a Conservative Evangelical (1974), Reading the Bible and the Confessions: The Presbyterian Way, (1999), and Jesus, the Bible, and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church. (2006)
Past topics chosen by Honoring All Voices (HAV) addressed urgent issues that confront the Presbyterian Church (USA) and our nation: war and peace, the history of dissent, human sexuality,
the nature of Christ, biblical
interpretation and what it means to be a Christian in
for Christian fellowship and meaningful, healing worship.
This year we are reaching out to all congregations in our Presbytery to extend an invitation to partnership. In this way, new congregants have the opportunity to participate in the remaining
planning meetings for the 2006 event, and in the activities of the day. In addition, co-sponsorship
and shared resources will not rely on scarce Presbytery funds.
We are looking forward to working with you. If you are interested in joining us in partnership, please return the enclosed “Response to Partnership Invitation” sheet as soon as possible.
Yours in Christ,
HAV Organizing Team
